First Day of Summer!

Okay, so I'm not into this whole blogging thing yet, at least not regularly. I think it's a great idea and hopefully, I'll get with the program and get some thoughts written down. But for now, you'll just have to wait for these random thoughts to come along.

Another hot day in Wisconsin! Fine by me. It's much better than the 21 days of rain that we had out of 31 days in May!

Off to have some java...I'll be back.

Exercise!

Why is it so hard to fit that into my schedule? Hmmm...probably because I like to surf the internet and read! Although, I did today, walk on the treadmill for 15 minutes of which I ran for four of those 15 minutes. Gotta start somewhere, right?

My little girls, Lindsey & Sydney, were terribly sick last weekend with some kind of stomach bug/flu. They puked non-stop from Friday night until late Sunday afternoon, when we took them to the ER. They were very dehydrated and needed IV fluids. I'm glad we took them in. Lindsey is pretty much back to normal, but Sydney is still recovering. She still is having some diarrhea and not eating too well yet, but I'm sure it just takes time.

Starting on Monday, I am filling in for my neighbor's daycare, who is going on maternity leave for nine weeks. I will be watching her daughter (3.5) and son (almost 2) every Monday and Tuesday. It isn't anything new, as I already watch them on occasion, usually a Thursday morning a couple times a month. What will be different is that I will be having them here every week! Could be a little more exhausting for me.

I'm anxious for spring, so that I can get outside and go for walks with the girls. I'm sure that it's a ways away yet, though. Sometimes we can still get dumped on in April!

Just got back from a 12 day trip to Florida. Brian & I and the girls drove down, spending two nights with friends, one in Ft. Campbell, KY and the other in Alpharetta, GA, before ending up in Marco Island with my parents. Brice flew down on Saturday and stayed until Wednesday. We stayed until Friday and had a great time with my parents, and my brother and family. On Friday, we drove to Panama City Beach and spent two nights with Brian's parents. Then it was home by Monday night, with an overnight in Paducah, KY. What a fabulous trip and the girls handled it beautifully!

Well, better go drink some water and maybe read a little of my novel. I'm on to "Q" for Quarry by Sue Grafton. Have a great day!

Hot Chocolate...

Hmmm....I love hot chocolate, especially with a little shot of Bailey's in it! Tee-hee! I figured I needed one today as daughter #2, Sydney, is not cooperating by not taking a nap. She has been in her crib since 1 p.m. and it's now 2:20 p.m. Of course, daughter #1, Lindsey, is sleeping right through it! I'm sure it's because when I ran to Target earlier today, DH let Sydney fall asleep on the floor for 45 minutes and then woke her up. BIG MISTAKE! She's probably raring to go now. I first went in there at about 1:20 p.m. and she had proceeded to throw everything out of her crib, including her pants and the diaper she had taken off. She was asking for a diaper change I guess! I'm still holding out hope that she'll fall asleep, even for a short while.

DH, Brian, is off ice fishing this afternoon and evening. He went last weekend too. Ummm, I wonder what he did with those crappies that he caught. I haven't seen them and they sound good about now. Stepson, Brice, who is 17, is off to band practice. He plays in a band that he formed with a few other guys. He has a real love for it and has a good time. He is a senior this year and will be off to UW-Stout this fall. It will be strange not having him coming and going. But then again, UW-Stout isn't that far away, so maybe we'll see him more often than we think!

Well, I'm off to get a little novel reading in. I'm currently reading...'M' for Malice, by Sue Grafton. I may surf the web for a bit as well. PLEASE, little Sydney, just get a little sleep, would you?

What am I doing?

I really don't know what made me start this blog! I don't know why I think I'm going to have time to write here when I can't even keep my house clean. But, I will try. This blogging is new to me, and it seems like journaling. I used to do that a lot when I was a teenager and am feeling the need to again. Lucky you!

My name is Kim. I am 38 years old and a mom to two year old identical twin girls, Lindsey & Sydney. They were born extremely early, at 24 weeks gestation, weighing only 17.5 ounces (498 grams) and 18 ounces (509 grams) and they were about 11" long. What a JOURNEY it has been!

More on this later, as I have to run. I'm heading to Las Vegas to meet my DH, Brian, for a little R & R. He is out there for work and I thought I'd join him for the weekend. The girls will be well taken care of by my best friend, and also, my brother & SIL.

I'll be back...
